S. C. Gallup Vintage Western Saddle 1890's High back Super RARE

  
Here is a rare opportunity to own a piece of Colorado history. This unique western trail saddle was made by S. Gallup circa 1880s in Pueblo, CO and designed for long cattle drives.

Antique Vintage stamped SC Gallup Western Ranch/Pueblo Saddle. This saddle is stamped with the logo on the latigo holder, cantle and stirrup fenders both sides, SC Gallup Saddlery Co. Markings allow dating this saddle: SC Gallup marked saddles were marked as such between 1870 and 1898, this firmly places the saddle between 1870 and 1898. 4 sets of saddle strings each side, has the rope holder strap.

Double leather skirt, and high back cantle! Saddle cleaned but No repairs or modifications have been made to protect the integrity of the item. The seat measures 14 to the middle of the cantle. Although measurements are approximates, some information is observable in photos. This museum-quality saddle is in very good shape despite its years, and any scuffs and blemishes just add to the amazing history this saddle has.

Gallup opened his saddlery in Pueblo, Colorado, in 1869. Gallup Saddlery opened in 1870. And even in Havana, Cuba. Robert Thompson Frazier came to Pueblo in 1880 and worked for Gallup until they formed a short-lived partnership. Gallup & Frazier Saddlery logo featured a longhorn steer saddled with a Pueblo-style saddle and "G & F" branded on the left front shoulder. In 1893, a Gallup & Frazier saddle won first prize at the Chicago World's Fair. Pueblo was known as the saddle making capital of the world in the years between 1870 and 1921. Gallup and Frazier Saddlery with Robert Thompson Frazier, which lasted until 1898.
