Very intricately carved, and beautiful western roping saddle. Obviously handmade and handcarved by a very skilled individual, but he left no name that I have found.
There is finely done buckstitched edging which is subtle and very attractive. The seat is lovely, inlaid, triple stitched with a beautiful design, and attractively presented.
It is a full 16 inches from the base of the horn to the inside rim of the cantle. The cantle is the old elephant ear type, and the measure of 16 inches, although confusing in the photo above, is to the inside rim. The stirrup leathers are excellent and adjust with an old Blevins buckle system. The stirrups themselves are leather covered, carved to match the saddle and are good.
The horn is a large, southwestern style, and both horn and tree are tight. Even the underside of the pommel is carved.
The gullet is a full 6 inches, and the skirts are long, measuring 28 inches. The saddle was just lightly washed, and the color reflects that moisture in places.
The saddle color will be darker, as it appears in some of the photos. The flash of the camera lightened the color a bit. I believe this can be seen in photos 4 and 5.
