CONWAY vintage western custom wade saddle Sterling buckles conchos breastcollar

  
This is a Historic Saddle co that derived from the Original Coggshell Saddles to the Miles City saddles and finally to the Conway saddle co by changing hands in the same shop between 1889 and 1956. This saddle has Sterling Silver made by "Ricardo" one of the earliest sterling houses starting in the 1920's and supplied early Hollywood with sterling embelishments as buckles, bridles, Bits, conchos. It is extremely rare to find Ricardo saddle sterling today and this saddle has a lot of it. There are two 3 Sterling conchos one on the horn cap and one on the center of the breast collar.

As well as the saddle conchos, cantle cover, owner plate, stirrup bolt conchos and four sterling buckles on the breast collar marked Ricardo. The stirrups have the tooled dog eared flaps with sterling conchos on the bolts. The Sterling horn Cap and the Breast collar sterling cap have the rocking B Brand in eighter jewelers bronze or gold.

The fenders also has the Rockin B Brand tooled into it. Beautiful tooling and the leather condition is just amazing. You can tell it has been well cared for and lived inside and displayed. I would venture to say this saddle was made in the latter part of the 40's. The saddle is fully tooled and is in amazing condition. It has some nice and unusual detail such as the braided saddle strings and horn wrap. Comes in a wade slick fork tree. Has inskirt rigging that allows for a much lighter saddle when swinging onto your horses back. The weight of the saddle is not counting the breast collar rear cinch or cinch.

You will not find another Conway saddle in this condition with all the extras as it was custom built for Mr Burden and his horse Grand Sun. This saddle would complement any saddle collection or any horse that you put it on.

It fits good, rides good, and is Great to look at. Rigging In skirt double rigged. 3 Billets tooled to match saddle. Six string with laced leather strings. Sterling conchos, cantle plate, owner plate, swell plate, stirrup bolts, horn cap, breast collar Center Concho and 4 sterling buckles on breast collar. Horn 3.5" Cap 4.5" Sterling Horn cap 3. Rear cinch tooled 5.5 wide at wides point. Breast collar fully tooled to match saddle sheep skin lined four sterling buckles marked Ricardo and 3 Center sterling concho with rocking B brand. The Owner Mr Burden Graduated Phi Beta Kapa from the University of Denver with degrees in Fine Art and Education. He taught school in Englewood Colorado , The Los Lunas Hospital and the Training School for the Retarded and Handicapped. Thomas was Senior Design Illustrator for the Martin Co. And was involved in the initial development of the Job Corp Program for the Department of the Interior Park Service. Her worked for the B. Of the Interior teaching schools on reservations in Pine Ridge SD and Many Farms AZ. He was transferred to Washington DC where her retired after 22 years.
