These are an original matched pair of heavy leather government-issued saddlebags dating to the early 20th century. The Forest Service was established in 1905 and utilized mounted rangers throughout the West, often using military-style McClellan saddles and horse equipment. These saddlebags are a wonderful example of that era of American history.

Original roller buckles and hardware. Matching pair with center yoke.

Excellent display piece for Western, Forest Service, cavalry, ranch, or museum collections. The saddlebags are in solid antique condition with expected wear from age and use.
