Antique Reconditioned Western Side Saddle. This is an antique western side saddle. It is a wonderful part of western history. When I bought the saddle it had been completely reconditioned except for the leather around the seat, leg and side braces. All tooling was matched the same as original leather. The braces are said to be made of whalebone covered with leather.

The tree is original and sound. It has a western stirrup but can be changed to an English one. This saddle looks beautiful as a display but is also fully usable. I used it for reenactments. You dont see saddles with the side brace very often.

There are scratches and chinks (see photos) in the leather on the braces. Also a few nicks and scratches on the rest of the saddle leather. The widest part of the saddle seat measures 12 inches. The seat from back of the leg braces to top of the cantle measures 15 ½ inches. A few tacks on seat are loose and one is missing. I do not know the maker of this saddle.
