Here is a NICE CRATES Used Barrel Saddle 14 Inch Seat. This has been a good saddle for a lot of years but time to go to another loving home!
We have kept this around the barn because it is so comfortable and perfect for any "newbies" because it holds you so nicely. While it is an older model don't let that fool you - it still has plenty of life left to give! This is a well made, good looking CRATES Barrel Saddle with a serial number #2266. It was made in the year 1988 and features the tough old rawhide tree. The seat is a deep 14 inch with about a 4 1/2" cantle height and this saddle has the C-Plate rigging with medium Quarter Horse bars with a 7" swell width and rawhide wrapped 2 1/2 inch horn capped with silver. It has the round skirt and rough out seat, jockey and stirrup leathers and a handy hoof pick holder. The leather is imprinted with the still popular basket weave design and the stirrups are of rolled and leather laced rawhide. The pommel is wide, measuring about 14 from corner point to corner point and flares back, holding you snug in the seat.The fleece underneath is still clean, soft and resilient, evidently this saddle was not mistreated or overly used. Aside from a missed stitch or two, there is no damage whatsoever. I'm not sure what type of silver was used for these concho's but they could used a bit of spit and polish for certain! I'm guessing this saddle weighs approximately 28-30 pounds and it has mostly stainless steel hardware.
